Gita Jayanti 2024 Bhagavad Geeta life lessons and summary

Gita Jayanti 2024: Today, the ‘Ekadashi’ date of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month is accordingly 11 December 2024. On this date, before the war, Lord Shri Krishna preached Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta to Arjun in the battle of Kurukshetra. Geeta has 700 verses and it comes under Bhishma Parva.

Author Dr. Mahendra Thakur According to this, while carrying out the tradition of expanding knowledge, scholars have written many commentaries on Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta and will definitely be written in the future also and the Ganga of Geeta will continue to flow continuously.

Along with this, in present times people also interpret the verses of Geeta in their own way. Geeta is playing a huge role in making people’s lives successful all over the world. Such proofs keep coming through social media every day.

Today in a fast-paced world, everyone wants to know everything in a very short form. There was a time when people liked to watch long videos, but now the era of ‘reels’ has come. No one reads long nor does he want to. Cricket matches have also started being of 20-20 overs each.

In such a situation if What is the basic message or essence of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta? If the answer to this question has to be given in a simple and very few words, then how can it be given? This effort is being made in this article.

There is a dialogue between four persons in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. Which begins with Dhritarashtra’s question to Sanjay and ends with Sanjay’s answer.

Dhritarashtra’s question itself is the first verse of the first chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta:

ReligionKshetre Kurukshetre Samveta Yuyutsavah.

Mamakah Pandavaschaiva Kimkurvat Sanjay.1.1,

It is noteworthy that the first word of this verse is ‘Religion,

Similarly, the last verse of the last i.e. 18th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is:

Yatra Yogeshwar: Krishna Yatra Partho Dhanurdhar:

Tatra Shrirvijayo Bhootirdhruva Neetirmatirmmm,18.78,

The last word of this verse is ‘Mm,

If a sentence is made by combining the first word ‘Dharma’ of the first verse of the first chapter and the last word ‘Mam’ of the last verse, then that sentence will be formed – ‘Dharma Mam’ or ‘Mam Dharma’, which would mean ‘‘My religion’ or ‘My religion’, My religion is called ‘Swadharma’.

Before the war, Arjun had deviated from his religion (Swadharma) i.e. ‘war’ out of attachment or compassion. Lord Shri Krishna had preached Geeta to Arjun only to give him a sense of responsibility i.e. to ‘follow his own religion’. The meaning of ‘Swa’ is ‘self’. At the spiritual level, this Swadharma is to serve ‘God’ through the ‘soul’.

Serving ‘God’ through ‘soul’ is called ‘Sanatan Dharma’. Hindu religious scriptures teach to follow religion through ‘good conduct’. Morality is also a personal matter, that is, it is related to the individual’s ‘self’ or ‘soul’.

The meaning of the first verse is– Hey Sanjay! What did I and Pandu’s sons do when they gathered in the sacred land of Kurukshetra with the desire to fight? Here Dhritarashtra is asking about ‘what did’ i.e. ‘karma’. According to Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, man has the ‘right’ only to do ‘karma’ and this ‘right’ is called his ‘dharma’ or ‘swadharma’.

The meaning of the last verse is It is my opinion that where Yogeshwar is Lord Krishna and where Arjun is the one carrying Gandiva, there is only Shri, Vijay, Vibhuti and unshakable policy. The meaning of the last verse is that the person who remains united with God and follows his own religion, his victory is certain, only he gets the blessings of Shri i.e. Mahalakshmi and this is the immovable policy i.e. the eternal truth.

overall Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta gives the message to man to ‘follow one’s own dharma by dedicating all one’s actions to God’. The person who will follow his Swadharma by dedicating all his deeds to God, will be victorious in every field, will get fame and will pave the way to the ultimate goal of human life i.e. ‘liberation’.

This is the essence of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta which is revealed by combining the first word of the first verse of the first chapter and the last word of the last verse of the last chapter. Shrimadbhagwat Geeta means ‘Dharma Maam’ i.e. ‘My Dharma’ i.e. ‘Swadharma’. Narayanayeti Samarpayami….

Where science ends, does spirituality begin from there, what is the reality?
